We have the ability to live in peace

In an article that came out last year (and was absolutely ignored by the telvision stations), David Barstow of the New York Times exposed a Pentagon program that was offering former military advisors to cable news networks in order to generate support for the War in Iraq. The Pentagon considered these former generals as "message force multipliers" being used to convince Americans that they should trust the military.

David Barstow was recently interviewed by Amy Googman about the story and how it was ignored by the cable television networks:

Part 2:

I think this story shows how our democracy is greatly affected by what the monopoly media does and does not tell us. Before the War in Iraq, there was only a small amount of people on cable news shows who were against the war in Iraq. At the same time, former military generals who were getting talking points from the Pentagon were on the programs all the time.

I'm glad this reporter won the Pulitzer Prize. I hope more people will now hear about this and have conversations about it.

I'm glad he won the Pulitzer, but if it wasn't for this post, I would have heard nothing about it.
