True Republicans Should Vote For Democrats

If Republicans hold true to the roots of their party, they should vote for Democrats.

If Republicans support respect for the constitution, they should vote for Democrats.

If Republicans support the defense of civil liberties, they should vote for Democrats.

If Republicans support a commitment to fiscal responsibility, they should vote for Democrats.

If Republicans support the pursuit and stewardship of America’s interests abroad; the use of multilateral international engagement and “soft pow… Continue

American Hypocrisy About Use Of Military

Glenn Greenwald wrote a good article about the hypocrisy of statements being made by American leaders toward Russia.

"It's hardly news that the U.S., like many countries, espouses standards that it routinely violates, but still, even in light of such routine hypocrisy, wouldn't you think that this, from Condoleezza Rice today, on an airplane to U.S. reporters while traveling to a NATO meeting, would be too brazen to… Continue

Olympic Shock & Awe

I really enjoyed watching the opening ceremonies of the Olympic games.

At the end of the ceremonies, the cameras took a wide shot of Bejing as tons of fireworks were set off.

This got me thinking about how the peaceful gathering of athletes from all nations is more effective at achieving the goal of world peace than the bombing of an urban area full of civilians.

KIVA Loans Helping Global Entrepreneurs

I just got this email from a friend and thought some of you might be interested:

Hello! Hi!

I just made a loan to someone in the developing world using a revolutionary new website called Kiva (www.kiva.org). You can go to Kiva's website and lend to someone in the developing world who needs a loan for their business - like raising goats, selling vegetables at market or making bricks.

Each loan has a picture of the entrepreneur, a description of their business and how they plan to use the loan… Continue

I think that based on Paul's response posted here, he knows more about what is going on in Afghanistan than probably 90% of Americans. I agree that we need more information and attention on the issues (in all areas of politics) instead of just hear…

Do you have a clear idea of what is going on? Have you written articles explaining it?

Any time we are fighting a war with the possibility of sending more troops, it is good for the American people to know as much as possible. For example, if people knew more about Iraq before the invasion they might not have supported the war effort…

I think it starts with open communication where ideas can spread freely. If people only hear about the need for war, then that is what they will probably support. Second, I think it is important to get people to take action in non-violent ways. I t…

I try to be an optimist so I want o focus for a moment on how far we have come. Dictatorships (religious, military, regal, etc...) were present all over the world for most of human history. Now, most of the dictatorships are being replaced with demo…

I enjoyed this video. Interesting to hear a story about an artist wanting to be able to practice and show his art without the constraints of governments that are opposed to what he does. Sometimes I take it for granted how free I am to do as I want…

Hi Paul
Thanks for your blessing. If you could recommend someone aged between 18-30 years to the program, they may have a chance to get a fellowship to the international conference next year in Thailand. Please check out at http://www.peacerevolution2010.org/docs/en/apply-for-the-agency.
