Republicans do not have popular policies.
Because of this, Republicans have become experts at lying and misleading the citizens of this nation with well crafted talking points.
Here's some of the current Republican myths being promoted:
"Democratic spending" - Republicans keep saying that the deficit and growing national debt is caused by Democratic spending. The truth is that most of the recent debt was caused by the loss of tax revenue from the recession and the Bush tax cuts.
"Trickle down economics" - Republicans protect the wealthiest members of society with the myth of trickle down economics. The talking point focuses on seeing the wealthy as job creators who should be taxed less.
The truth is that there is no data to support the notion that tax cuts for the wealthy leads to more jobs with higher pay. After decades of trickle down economics, all we have to show for it is the largest separation of rich and poor. Wages for a large majority of Americans has not increased since the 1970's (adjusted for inflation). The myth of trickle down economics has been very good for the wealthiest members of our society. That must be why they give so generously to political campaigns.
"Uncertainty" - Republicans say "political uncertainty" is the reason why corporations are sitting on trillions of dollars in wealth.
We don't have an "uncertainty problem"
We have a "most people in this country have lost a large percentage of their purchasing power" problem.
Businesses would be hiring more people if the customers were there.
Giving more tax breaks to the corporations doesn't solve the problem.
