Watch C-SPAN 1 Live: House of Representatives Floor Coverage

C-SPAN's 24-hour network streams can't be embedded here. Watching them on C-SPAN.org requires a login with a participating TV provider. Use the link below, or try the C-SPAN page on this site for free YouTube events.

What Is This Feed?

C-SPAN, often called C-SPAN 1, is the original network of the Cable-Satellite Public Affairs Network. It launched in 1979, in time for the first televised House floor proceedings, and it is still best known for covering the House of Representatives from gavel to gavel.

When the House isn't meeting, the channel fills its schedule with hearings, press briefings, public events and its long-running call-in program, Washington Journal.

When Can I Watch?

C-SPAN 1 runs 24 hours a day. Live House coverage comes when the House is in session, usually during the week. Washington Journal typically airs in the morning, Eastern time. The online stream requires a TV provider login, so check your cable or streaming package.

Why This Feed Matters?

Before 1979, Americans could read about House debates but rarely see them. Cameras changed the relationship between representatives and the public, because members now speak knowing that voters at home may be watching.

The call-in format adds something else: ordinary people from every party can question officials and each other on national television.
