Watch UK Parliament Live: House of Commons Stream and Sitting Times
This player shows the official UK Parliament YouTube channel when it is live. Not every sitting streams on YouTube, so use ParliamentLive.tv below for full coverage. If nothing is live, the player may say the video is unavailable.
What Is This Feed?
Parliament's official video service, ParliamentLive.tv, covers the House of Commons, the House of Lords and committee meetings. The UK Parliament YouTube channel adds selected live streams and explainers.
The Commons chamber is famous for its closeness: government and opposition sit facing one another, and ministers must answer questions directly. For viewers used to other systems, that back-and-forth is a striking way to see accountability at work.
When Can I Watch?
When the House of Commons sits, its usual hours are 2:30 pm to 10:30 pm on Mondays, 11:30 am to 7:30 pm on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and 9:30 am to 5:30 pm on Thursdays, London time. It sits on some Fridays from 9:30 am to 3 pm.
Prime Minister's Questions takes place on Wednesdays at noon London time when the House is sitting. Parliament also takes recesses, so check its What's On calendar first.
Why This Feed Matters?
Parliamentary government rests on one idea: ministers stay in office only as long as they keep the confidence of the elected chamber. Televised questions let voters see that test applied week after week.
The Commons allowed cameras only in 1989, after a long debate, and few would now argue for removing them. Its experience shows that openness, once granted, quickly becomes something citizens expect.
