Watch the U.S. Senate Live: Senate Floor Stream and Webcast Guide
This player shows whatever C-SPAN is streaming live on YouTube, which may not be the Senate floor. For the Senate floor itself, use the official webcast link below. If C-SPAN is not live, the player may say the video is unavailable.
What Is This Feed?
The Senate's own website carries a webcast of floor proceedings, and that link is the most direct way to watch the chamber. C-SPAN, the public affairs network created by the cable industry, also covers Congress, and its YouTube channel carries live events.
On the floor you will see senators debate nominations, treaties and bills. Long stretches can look quiet because the Senate often pauses in a quorum call, a slow reading of names that gives leaders time to work out the next step.
When Can I Watch?
The Senate sets its schedule day by day when it is in session, usually during the week, and each day's opening time is announced when it adjourns the day before. The official 2026 calendar lists a target adjournment of December 18, 2026.
Votes are often grouped together, so the busiest moments can be short. Checking the floor schedule on Senate.gov before you tune in will save you time.
Why This Feed Matters?
Senators confirm judges and cabinet officers and vote on treaties, so a single floor vote can shape the country for decades. Being able to watch those decisions in real time means they happen in front of the public, not only in a closed room.
The Senate first allowed television coverage in 1986. Each person who watches today continues that opening of the chamber, and helps remind senators that the voters back home can see the record.
Common Questions
How do I watch a Senate webcast?
Open the official floor webcast link above. It runs when the Senate is in session.
Why does the Senate live stream look empty?
During a quorum call or between speeches, few senators are in the chamber. Much of the work happens in committees and offices.
Is the Senate on C-SPAN?
C-SPAN2 is the network known for Senate floor coverage. Watching it on C-SPAN.org may depend on your TV provider, so the Senate's own webcast is the simplest free option.
